Our students participate in a variety of classes or sessions according to their IEPs, including sign language, OT/Music, yoga, adapted art, gym, library, music, occupational therapy, speech language therapy, and physical therapy. Services may also be provided by a teacher of the visually impaired, an assistive technologist and an orientation & mobility instructor. We swim once a week all though the year and if weather permits, in January, February and March we cross country ski or snow shoe. We take walks around the block or to the university.
Our annual activities include:
Field trip to apple orchard in October
Field trip to Robin’s Flower Pot in the spring
Regional Special Olympics in the spring
Graduation Party in May for students moving to Cascade Brook School
About the teacher:
In 2013, I graduated with a M.S. in Education from the University of Maine at Farmington with a concentration in special education. Previously I was a student in the Special Ed Alternate Route to Certification (SPARC) program, where I became certified as a special education teacher. I earned my bachelors degree from Colorado State University in Music Therapy. My passion is working with other professionals such as Occupational Therapists and Teachers of the Visually Impaired to create education plans for children with disabilities.
